In order to establish the norms that will carry with us through the Pinnacle experience, we will use Blogger to weed out suggestions. First, leave a comment to this post listing 5 things you to see occur in a PLC setting. Afterwards, we will get in groups of 4 or 5 to combine those into categories we will use to make norms.
1. When people air their personal issues in front of the group.
ReplyDelete2. Being read to...I AM an English teacher....
3. Presenters who are ill prepared and/or have no experience with what they are talking about.
4. Participants who talk over the presenter.
5. Participants who REFUSE to "play along" and try to get something out of the activity.
1)Ignoring your peers/suggestions
ReplyDelete2)Repeating complaints
3)Not compromising
4)Talking about the same topics repeatedly with no progress
5)Unnecessary paperwork
1. I hate when people waste time by talking about their personal lives
ReplyDelete2. I hate when people argue about trivial things that don't matter
3. I hate when people think competitively about their classes
4. I hate when people try to do their own thing instead of thinking of what is best for the group
5. I hate when people come unprepared! ex. not having common assessments completed, copies made, grades done, etc.
1. Negativity
ReplyDelete2. Teachers not willing to collaborate
3. Not enough time
4. Irrelevant activities
5. Teachers NOT paying attention
A. I hate when people hold personal conversations during meetings and training sessions.
ReplyDelete2. I hate people texting or taking phone calls.
Next. I hate people showing up late or leaving early, espeially when they feel the need to announce why (as if we care).
Then. I hate meetings where we are guided through every word on the handouts because they think we haven't learned to read yet.
Last. I hate when a "side" meeting is imbedded in the scheduled session so that we are forced to be there even if that topic is unrelated to the announced agenda.
1 - condescension (please don't talk down to me)
ReplyDelete2 - irrelevant repetition
3 - being read to (powerpoint slides or handouts)
4 - inconsiderate people (people who talk about non-relevant things throughout the meeting)
5 - lack of organization
1. Arriving late with no plausible excuse.
ReplyDelete2. Thinking your phone is more important than the people you're with.
3. Not coming prepared.
4. Expecting others to do the work for you - with your effort, energy and expertise.
5. Leaving early.
5 Things I hate @ PLC meetings:
ReplyDelete1. People not taking constructive criticism
2. People not carrying their weight in an agreement.
3. People busy with cell phones.
4. People getting WAY off topic.
5. People not sharing new ideas or activities that have discovered.
But PLCs are wonderful :)
1-whispering during meeting
ReplyDelete2-phones going off
3-irrelevant issues
4-people talking over speaker to gain floor
5-negativity
